Silver Sulfadiazine
- Silver Sulfadiazine has broad antimicrobial activity against Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria, yeasts and fungi.
- It has also been reported to be active in vitro against herpes virus and Treponea pallidium.
- This antimicrobal action is attributable to both Silver and Sulfadiazine and antagonized by P-aminobenzoic acid.
- It is sulphonamide which is not inactivated by pus and serum
- It is used as a 1% cream in 3 to 5 mm thickness, for the prevention and treatment of infection particularly by pseudomonas aruginosa, in second & third degree burns.
Application
- In topical formulation like creams, for treatment server burns.
